A national data base in France called Fubicycode generates and records a personal owner number and its own password. This number is then marked directly on the bicycle, anonymously linking the bicycle to its owner, the bike passport holder.

In the event of theft, the Bicycode® number will serve as proof of ownership for the police report and will help the police return the bike to its rightful owner.
